The lemon is actually a hybrid citrus tree, combining the lemon tree and the citrus. The lemons are mainly used for their juices because the fruit itself is just too bitter to eat on it's own. Some people can do that and they have mastered the art of eating lemons but 85% of people stick to using the lemon juice. The part of the lemon that is also used is the zest or pee. The zest is mainly used in cooking or baking.
There are three different lemon types, the Eureka, the Lisbon and the Meyer lemon, the Meyer lemon is known to be a hybrid lemon. They all have the same characteristics except for the way they were grown, they are all the same except for the Meyer lemon.
The nutritional value of the lemon include the fact they are 96% water, they only have 12 calories, 1% of fiber and about 40 mg of vitamin C. The most common use of lemons in the world of drinks is obviously lemonade. Using the juice and some concentrate just add sugar and you've got lemonade.
As far as the food aspect of lemons they are most commonly used as a side when serving fish. The lemon being that it has so much acid actually evens out the amines that are found in fish. Lemons can be used as a marinade or used in making cakes, pies and cookies. It has been said that a lemon added to hot water actually purifies the liver.
