The kiwi fruit has an abundance of vitamin C. Although the Kiwi fruit is not a very popular fruit, it does have its place as one of top ten fruits that have a good nutritional value. The kiwi fruit also contains potassium just like the banana but only a slightly lower level.
The skin of a kiwi has a high number of antioxidants that reduce the chances for certain types of cancers and diseases. Most people don't know this but kiwifruit can be used as a meat tenderizer because it has a protein-eating enzyme called actinidin, but it may cause allergies in some people.
More to the point people who are allergic to latex, pineapples or papayas most likely will be allergic to kiwifruits. Kiwis are great for desserts mainly as toppers; kiwi and milk do not mix very well because the enzymes in the kiwi break down the milk enzymes rather quickly. It is not a good idea to out those two together unless you will be serving the dessert and eating it within an hour.
The nutritional value of a kiwifruit is that the kiwi is 84 % water, has about 45 calories, 2% fiber, 0 fat grams, 8 grams of sugar and it is 5% vitamin A and about 70 % vitamin C. Kiwis have a distinct taste that some people just don't like. They really are an acquired taste.
